Don't fix what isn't broken

I upgraded my Samsung S6 with the new Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow software. Subsequent to the upgrade my phone started rebooting randomly until it went into a reboot loop, which made the phone useless as it couldn't start up again.

I sent the phone in for repairs the next day at the Samsung shop in Menlyn shopping centre in Pretoria. They took note that there was no screen damage and they removed my sim card with the sim card holder before sending it for repairs.

3 working days later I received an sms for a quote of R5,800 to repair my phone. They mentioned that this quote includes a motherboard replacement, an LCD screen replacement and replacement of my simcard holder.

1.) There was nothing wrong with my motherboard prior to the software upgrade, since the phone worked perfectly fine. 2.) There was definitely nothing wrong with my screen and it was noted like that by the Samsung shop. 3.) The samsung shop removed my simcard holder and now I was quoted for its replacement.

The phone operator at Smartlab said that these things have to be fixed since they picked it up as issues and that they can't only fix certain parts of my phone. But they haven't even quoted me for fixing the actual problem - which is, I am no expert, but clearly a software issue.

Now I have requested for them to return my phone. I will have to pay R150 for an absolute useless quote, and I would have to try and fix my phone myself, all while I am without a phone which I am paying for. If I cannot fix my phone I will gladly rather use the R5,800 to buy another phone, which is not Samsung, with a service provider who might provide better service and I will also tell everyone I know to do the same.

This is shocking service and Samsung should do better than this in a highly competitive mobile phone market.
