Do not buy a Samsung TV
On the 10 July 2023 I purchased a Samsung 'premium' TV, model QN700B with a retail price of R58999. In February of 2024 (less than a year of ownership) the TV suffered complete failure and required a new screen and motherboard. This repair took a total of 4 weeks due to parts availability which left me without a TV, keeping in mind that this was a R60000 TV. Almost exactly a year later (March 2025) the TV suffered the exact same failure. The repair took place under warranty as before.
Given past patterns, it seems like this model has a factory defect which causes the screen and motherboard to last for a maximum of 12 months. I am now out of warranty and while the TV works at this point in time it seem like I only have a further 12 months before this TV becomes unusable. That means that a R60000 TV only lasted me 3 years. I contacted customer care at Samsung who told me that there is nothing further that can be done to assist since there is no predetermined lifespan on electronic equipment and that they are not willing to replace the TV.
I should have listened to advice at the time and purchased an LG TV.
