Disgusting treatment to customers R60 000 fridge and forced to buy a new one due to a lack of accountability and manufacturing defects.

As of 22 February 2024 I am still without my fridge, an essential appliance in our house. We were contacted today by Samsung after the case was being delayed unnecessarily for the past week. The feedback has been totally unjustifiable and has left me puzzled. Our fridge was purchased in 2016 with a 10 year warranty on the compressor for R60 000. This is a Signature item in the Samsung range. Little did we know even before warranty expiration that Samsung would write off the fridge due to an internal gas leak… giving us 2 options, replace the fridge for R53 999.10 or be stuck with a signature series appliance that has failed due to manufacturing defects and poor quality workmanship. As any customer would expect, if a product fails due to a manufacturing defect prior to warranty expiration one would expect accountability from the Manufacturer “Samsung”, to replace the fridge or at least repair it. Never did I imagine to spend R60 000 for a fridge only for Samsung to tell me that they will not repair it and they can only replace it for R53 900, prior to warranty expiration on compressor which is part of the gas system. An internal gas leak can only be caused due to a manufacturing defect as this would be in a protected, enclosed area. Samsung has rejected any option to source the leak and repair it as it is not a “cost effective repair”. Leaving me with a R60 000 kitchen ornament that is still under warranty but “unrepairable”. Totally unacceptable from Samsung. Totally unjustifiable how they can expect this from customers. Why should I pay double because you can’t manufacture a product to the standards you are charging your customers? If anything Samsung should replace the fridge entirely if they do not want to repair it and it is still under warranty… I have never owned a fridge freezer that has leaked gas, nevermind a fridge of this class/ status and not even last close to 10 years! Appliance gas leaking is also a health hazard and environmental hazard and should be investigated at a manufacturing level.

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY. I urge customers to read all reviews before spending so much money on essential appliances for there households. I am not the only one who has been burned like this by Samsung due to poor manufacturing standards.

Over the last 3 weeks this matter has been escalated over 10 times and the service and accountability remains as poor. They only reply to make themselves look good to other customers. If only the escalation team and voice of customer advisor was as efficient as the team protecting the Samsung Name from all these never ending bad reviews .

Dear Samsung, a while back Pandodox, your registered service department assessed our Samsung fridge as unrepairable with Internal leak a while ago to reject a warranty claim. Without properly assessing any of the exposed lines in the freezer.

I would just like to inform you that we had a reputable registered fridge repair company assess and they found the leak.. not internally. Our fridge is fixed and has been working perfectly for over a week now.

I am extremely disappointed in both the quality of modern Samsung Appliances and mostly in your service team “Pandodox” who have showed to have no interest / knowledge in handling any repairs with the only goal of rejecting warranty claims.
Pandodox delivered poor service from the day the repair was booked, by arranging a appointment at 15:00 where I took off from work, only to arrive at 19:00 with no communication. Glen, the assessor, had no interest in the assessment and made no effort in looking for a leak on any exposed lines, he made his assessment as an internal leak without checking anything other than the inverter board. After inspection by a reputable repair team, the area of leak was very clear and would not have needed an expert to see, only needed interest in delivering a good service to paying customers.

My point in my message is not to get anything in return from Samsung, but I would like a refund from Pandodox for a call out I paid for Glen to have no interest in doing a fair assessment.
