Defective Samsung Microwave – Request for Refund
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding a Samsung microwave that I purchased from Hirsch’s Meadowdale - Gauteng in January 2025.
Since the date of purchase, the microwave has experienced recurring faults and has already been sent in for repairs twice. I am now required to return the unit for a third repair due to the interior light which either does not switch on when the door is opened or there is a significant delay before it comes on.
Given that this is an expensive appliance, I find it unacceptable that it continues to malfunction despite multiple repair attempts. This clearly indicates that the product is defective and not of acceptable quality.
I previously contacted Samsung via email (reference number: ***) and was informed that a refund is not applicable as the product is older than 6 months. However, I do not believe this response adequately addresses the ongoing nature of the defect.
A product of this value should be durable and reliable. The repeated failure of the unit indicates that it is inherently defective. I am therefore requesting a refund, rather than undergoing yet another repair.
As a result, I will now be referring this matter to the relevant consumer council for further investigation and assistance.
