Defective Samsung 70inch Smart TV

My 70 inch Samsung TV, was purchased in January 2022. In July 2023, I logged a service request due to a screen issue, and as a result, the screen was replaced under warranty. Unfortunately, the same issue has now recurred, and I have been informed that I am liable for the repair costs as the TV’s 24-month warranty period has expired.

I find this decision unfair, as it is evident that the TV has an inherent defect. Given that the screen was already replaced once within the warranty period and has failed again, I believe this indicates a continuing product issue rather than standard wear and tear. A product of this nature should not require multiple screen replacements within such a short timeframe.

Very disappointed at the lack of accountability from Samsung South Africa.

To add, a call out fee of R750 was paid in order for a technician to access the damage of the TV, on arrival the TV was inspected without being moved and video taken for assessment. The feedback following the Samsung assessment and escalation I was told the issue is related to ‘physical damage’ which I fail to understand as there is no physical damage visible and this is clearly a product defect. Samsung needs me to pay repairs fees equal to 70% of the value of the purchase price. Unacceptable and once again disappointed at Samsungs response regarding my escalation.

Are you referring to the rejection letter of my escalation mentioning that the TV had physical damage and is out of warranty and Samsung cannot be liable for repair costs and won’t admit that the recurring issue is a defect on the product itself?

Interesting that I find many reviews related to the Samsung TV’s all with the same problem as myself. Clearly these are product defects!
