Costly wrong diagnosis

I have a Samsung S3 cell phone which is faulty. The problem is that the phone goes dead about 5 to 6 times a day. I am losing my calls and have to activate the phone several times a day.

On 24 Feb 2017, I took the phone to the Samsung service center at The Wedge Shopping complex for repairs. I had to pay R200 for the phone to be tested by the technicians. I was later phoned to come and collect my phone and was informed by the Samsung technicians that there was nothing wrong with the phone. I then returned home with the phone but soon realised that the phone was still faulty. On 27 Feb I returned the phone to Samsung who tested it again and then told us we need a new battery as the problem could only be the battery. I had to pay R690 for a new battery and, after the technicians installed the battery, the phone was returned to me. The phone still does not work properly. I again returned the phone and they took it to update the software and the phone was returned to me. It still does not work properly. I then returned to Samsung to ask them to reimburse the R690 so that I can return the battery to them. They said that as it is a consumable item and that it does not warrant a payback.

As a state pensioner I can't afford all the costs I had to pay while still sitting with a faulty phone.

I had asked Samsung from the beginning to tell me if it is not repairable, so I can get myself a new phone. I now had to incur substantial costs and the phone is still not working. I am very unhappy with the service that I received from Samsung.
