Buy 2 Samsung Phones - You're going to need that 2nd phone for any Warranty Repair...

So after an issue with my S10 screen (Green/overexposed screen) I contacted Samsung mobile to have the phone assessed under warranty. Samsung gave me the telephone numbers for 2 their Authorised Service Centers to arrange the repair, even though NONE OF THEM ANSWER THEIR PHONES. Found this out the hard way. So I make contact with their Head of "Voice of Customer" and I agree to take my phone to a repair center. I get there at 9am on the 22nd of Jan, only to be told that my phone will need to be booked in for assessment for 3 working days (at least) and that the repair may take a further 10 working days beyond that. So up to 13 working days or more without my phone! I contact the VoC head again and after struggling with very poor phone quality (again!) he appoints a case manager. He himself (and other Samsung support employees) admits that he couldn't go without his phone for 3 days (let alone10 more), yet that is what they want their customers to experience for warranty repair. From what I can tell (and the near-complete silence for the next week) that case manager does sweet ******-all until I eventually receive a phone call on the 1st of Feb, stating that I have to book my phone in. VoC head is on leave, so I ask to speak to the VoC head's manager. Case manager calls me back 20mins later, says that I HAVE to book the phone in for those 3 working days. I ask to speak to the VoC head's manager once again. A couple of hours later I get an email from Samsung titled "Final Response Letter", effectively telling me that they refuse to assist any further if I don't book my device in, and that I should contact the Consumer Goods Ombudsman if I want to escalate further. Clearly washing their hands of this case. Couldn't be bothered to engage the escalation that I requested...

So to my dear Samsung-owning friends with your 2-year fancy warranties that Samsung will invalidate if there is any evidence of, inter alia, "normal wear and tear" [their exact words in their letter], you'd better buy 2 of those over-priced S21 and Note 20 phones because you'll need a second phone if ANYTHING goes wrong with the first and it needs to go in for warranty repair... ...that's if Samsung doesn't do everything in their power to invalidate your warranty first!

Best of luck...

Other than a single, meaningless phone call I have had ZERO effective contact from or resolution of this issue since Samsung sent that letter. In my opinion, the fact that Samsung makes such blatantly false comments clearly demonstrates their true commitment to customer service in South Africa.
Do your homework to find out who & what Samsung really is before you spend your hard-earned money. Too many people are being burned like this - some seemingly waiting weeks with poor or no response to what should be a straightforward resolution I.T.O. South African law, including Out of The Box failures of BRAND NEW products.
The number of these complaints that I see on public forums is very concerning, showing just how disingenuous Samsung is IMO. It appears that Samsung treats South Africa as nothing more than a product dumping ground.
I am moving on. I won't touch their overpriced and pathetically underserviced products any more.
