Be warned when buying a Samsung TV.

Be warned when buying a Samsung TV.

The screen on my 55" Samsung TV broke 3 times within a 2 year, 3 month period, the 3rd time unfortunately just after the guarantee expired. After several weeks of fighting with Samsung I received a quote for R7 000.00 to repair the TV.

When I spoke to the VOC (Voice of the Customer) department asking what the Guarantee would be if I paid the R7 000.00 to have my TV repaired, I was told that Samsung does NOT have ANY guarantee on the parts replaced, only 3 months on the workmanship.

So, if I do spend R7 000.00 repairing my TV, and the screen fails the very next day (considering the history of the screen failures already) then I would have NO recourse with Samsung and my TV would be once again inoperable.

Be warned, once your Samsung TV is out of guarantee, it would be crazy to spend anything on repairing it. In fact, I would not buy a Samsung TV again, due to this policy. My Sony Bravia TV that I bought about 10 years ago is still going strong.

You have been warned. If you don't believe me, phone the Samsung Customer Care and ask for yourself, personally, I was shocked.

Stephen

Well done Samsung!!! It does not help to get 3 different people to call me and tell me the exact same thing. The bottom line is that Samsung does NOT offer any warranty on the parts replaced. I do not find this acceptable. I have read the 'Standard Samsung Warranty Conditions' supp**** with the TV (yes Samsung, I do still have them!) and nowhere does it state that parts replaced carry no warranty. I believe this is in contravention of the Consumer Protect Act, as it is the seller's responsibility to inform the purchaser of such information. Think twice before spending your hard-earned cash on a repair that carries no warranty. Samsung keeps telling me the same thing, only the workmanship carries a 3 month warranty, no warranty on parts.
