Avoid Samsung and New World Menlyn Park

My Samsung QLED Q7F developed lines on the screen, which I assume is due to the connectbox, since they disappear when the connect box is disconnected. I purchased the television from New World, Menlyn Park. I went to see them in an effort to get them to order a replacement connect box from Samsung South Africa, which I wanted to pay for. They said they are not a service centre and directed me to approach Samsung directly. I did so. Samsung then referred to their service centre, which happens to be New World, Menlyn Park. Nobody was willing to assist. Unhappy with the situation I recontacted Samsung via web chat. They then stated that they don't keep spare parts for longer than five years and couldn't help. This is to warn anybody considering buying Samsung from New World that 1) You cannot rely on New World for after-sales service as Samsung claims, but they are happy to take your money. 2) If you invest 25k on a Samsung television you should consider disposable after five years.

Reviewer Update
Samsung's customer advisor contacted me about the matter. Instead of remedying the matter themselves or addressing the problems with their Menlyn Park shop and taking responsibility, they instead batted the problem back to me by suggesting that I approach an alternative service centre, namely P.M.C. electronics. I duly contacted them. Their response was to refer me back to a Samsung shop. This again reconfirms that Samsung and its agents are unwilling and unable to supply post-sales support for their products and take every opportunity to derive joy from shoving their customers off as well as profiting from them. The involvement of the consumer council is now the appropriate avenue.
