Atrocious service by Samsung Clearwater Mall.
I bought a Samsung S3 classic smart watch under 2 years ago and everything was going great until the battery life started dropping quite radically. When the battery started lasting just over three hours between charges I popped into the Samsung Shop in the Clearwater Mall. This was on the 7th of August. Palesa assisted me and informed me that they required a R200 fee for them to quote, which I paid. After much waiting Palesa came back to me and according to their assessment of my watch in the quoting process, asked me to pay a further R1800 for the battery and the back screen which had a fine hairline crack on it which I was aware of. They also noted the strap was peeling and was cracked. I forwent this though. So I paid the R1800 which they required upfront before any work was done, on 31 August. Palesa mentioned that they required around a week to 10 days to get the parts and repair my smart watch , which I agreed to. She also said that she would keep me informed. This did not happen. After around 10 days I contacted her and she assured me that the parts were about to arrive and she would call me in 3 days time. This never happened, and I once again ended up having to call her. Once again there was some story about waiting for the parts to arrive but their arrival was imminent. After a couple of days I called her and after another story I told her that I wanted my watch repaired and this was taking far too long. I called very day or so for an update and there was always a story but no result. Eventually on Friday 19 September I told Palesa that I would be coming in the next day, Saturday morning to collect my repaired watch, to which she agreed. I arrived at around 11:30 and Palesa told me my watch was not ready. I was definitely not amused by this and asked to speak to the manager, and was told that I couldn't because the manager was at the bank. I then said that I would wait for my repaired watch. After more than an hour there was still no progress. I said that I wanted my repaired watch by close of business and that Palesa should call me as soon as it was ready. Palesa called me just before 4pm and told me that my PC board was cracked and would incur further costs to fix this. I went back into the store and asked Palesa how was this possible, and how come they didn't pick this up in the quoting process. She just shrugged her shoulders. I said that this was unacceptable. I requested that the store refund me, which she processed. When I got home my watch would not turn on at all. So I tried charging it, and nothing! Please explain how someone brings in a working watch with a battery issue, and then walks out with a watch with a broken PC board? Was it vindictiveness because I was upset at their tardiness? Either way it's unacceptable.
I did try and contact Samsung South Africa directly, but their link to the customer complaint email does not work.
