Advice about my rights

BUYING SPARE PARTS

In 2017 I bought a Cell phone from Game - but the make was Samsung. There was no policy in place from Samsung South Africa that I can not buy spare for my phone like a battery- that I have to book my phone in to their shops. As the Batteries was available at time off purchase.

Now 2019 when I wanted to buy a replacement battery Samsung refuses to sell me one as they have a NEW policy in place, that when I want to buy a spare part like battery I have to book my phone into their service shops.

I have mention to them, my phone is not under warranty, and by battery is not built in. It is loose and I just need the replacement part. I am willing to buy it.

I have them on recording over the phone how they refuse to sell me this part without booking my phone it. This was not part of the policy like I said when I bought it initially.

I feel they can get away with bulling small people with their big company.

But lets put it into another scenario. If I buy a car, and the policy under the time I bought it did not stipulate that I have to book my car in say if I need a new battery for my car. So 2 years down they line they change their policy and now when I want to replace my battery- I have to book my car in at my cost, my inconvenience - they make money, where by I could just have bought a battery from them and fit it myself.

So How can Samsung held me to a policy that was not in effect when I bought the phone?

This is maybe a small issue- but it is wrong what they do and I do need protection from a company like that.

So now I am going to fear for any product that I buy that a company can change their policy after the fact and I am later going to sit with a useless product just because they do not want to sell me a part.

Please please help me.
