60" plasma redundant after only 18 months!!

So my 18 month young 60" plasma developed a faulty panel and is neither repairable or replaceable.

As it is still under warranty Samsung are compelled to either repair the set or replace it with a set of similar specifications.

I was first offered a 50" UHD screen and later a 55" FHD curved screen. Thanks but neither come close to the 60" plasma in size and picture quality. Believe what you like but LED/LCD simply cannot match plasma for picture quality.

I'm told they only prepared to pay on a replacement set, what I originally paid on the faulty set. I feel Samsung should take the pain and replace my 60" plasma with a 60" set. Why should I be prejuicided because Samsung has ceased supporting and manufacturing plasma tv's? Why should I be prejuicided because Samsung were unable to manufacture a product that could out live their 24 month warranty
let alone the 5 years one would expect to get out of a set in this price range? Why should I be prejuicided because Samsung inflattery cost of goods means a set I paid R10k for 18 montha go, will barely get me a 50" set today? If a 40" set cost R10k would I have been compelled to accept that as a replacement for my 60" set?

I told them as much and their response was pretty much, 'well, take a refund'. Just short of 2 weeks later and I'm still waiting on that refund.

Poor performing product matched only by their poor after sales service.
