Samsung **** competitions/ Incompetence

I recently won a competition with Samsung South Africa, I’ve received an email stating I’m a winner and I must click on redeem my prize which was Samsung earbuds and delivery details, a few days later I received another mail from Samsung stating, the first email was not meant for me , so I’m not the winner. Can they do this?
