Salon Lisa Norwood fries your hair

I visited Salon Lisa for the hair straightening treatment in March. I had informed them beforehand that my hair was coloured and that I had had this treatment before and I was concerned as to whether or not it could be repeated. I opted for the most expensive treatment and I was assured that it would not damage my hair. I spoke to Aysha from Houghton ( she has subsequently refused to give me her surname) and she guaranteed that a mild formula would be used.

I sat through the 5 hour treatment done by Christine at the Norwood branch. A week later, I noticed that my hair started breaking and falling and taking on a texture like steel wool. Despite this, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited to see if my hair would settle. Incidentally, my hair was waist length.

After a month or two it became apparent that the damage was serious and I called Aysha who asked me to visit the salon for an assessment and she reassured me that it could be fixed. Christine kept apologizing to me, on seeing the extent of the damage. After they moisturized and “ candled” my hair, it was clear that nothing could be done. I phoned Aysha who told me that a refund was out of the question and that I must have done something to cause the damage. When I asked what I could possibly have done, she didn’t reply to my SMS.

The part owner, Lisa, called me from Durban and offered to “ glue” synthetic hair into my servely damaged hair when she visited Jhb. This proposition was absurd and I told both her and Aysha that Christine had obviously made a mistake with the strength of the chemical and that I would prefer a refund. I was fair since I did not ask them to cover the cost of the haircuts I was forced to have, just the cost of the damaging treatment. Both times, the ladies insisted that they ran an “ honest “ business but refused to acknowledge that they were responsible for the irreversible damage to my hair. Left without a choice, I cut my waist length hair to my shoulders and the damage is still apparent. It will take at least two years for it to grow back.

Despite what you are told and the pictures you are shown, DO NOT attempt the hair straightening treatment because they do not take responsibility when they are negligent. I had almost the identical experience to the other review.
