Shoe quality issues under warranty

Bad warranty experience. This outdoor all terrain shoes had some flaws. The upper canvas/nylon part torn under 2years. When i went to the store to lodge a complaint, their excuse was that they could see the soles were used a lot and the torn upper piece was due to wear and tear. So, my question is why should i buy this all-terrain shoes, wear them (which the soles will wear out Aswell) on a surface that the soles still stay 100% so that my shoes can last at least 2 years. I lodge a complaint because my canvas upper part look like cheap shoes of about 5yrs old. my shoes are still under warranty and Salomon do not want to admit their poor-quality. never again Cheers
