Salomon Sport - Speedcross 5

It is seldom that I find the need to complain about a company. Salomon Sports is, however, one such company that I feel consumers must be wary of. I have many sport shoes that I have bought over the years and currently have 4 for different activities, hiking, running etc. However, a pair of Speedcross 5 have broken on the inside of the heel after less than 8-months - material has worn through on the inside of the shoe to the heel-guard. After returning these to Sportsman's Warehouse (Nelspruit), after a month I was told I run with a pronation and it is my fault. However, none of my other Salomon's have shown a similar problem. (Or any other shoes for that matter). Sending a "Steve" (re Sportsman's referral) a mail has proved fruitless. I have also subsequently learnt from Sportsman's (Nelspruit) that Salomon's only offer a six month warrantee against a product defect on their shoes. (Salomon's website says 2-years ?). As such, I think consumers must ask the question when they purchase their shoes, what is the guarantee / warrantee ? I believe they will be unpleasantly surprised ! Well that is the last pair I buy - a waste of money if they don't even last a year - cost more than R200/month to wear them before they fall apart - not a good investment). Regards, Henry
