Salomon shoes - Don't waste your money

I bought a pair of Salomon sneakers from Cape Union Mart for R 2400. I wore them very seldom and then only for normal walking. (I am in my 70's.) After e few years, I noticed that the shoes are literally disintegrating. The soles are still good and the insides are like new, but the plastic on the sides all around and the fabric has become brittle and started cracking. It is also pulling loose all round. The shoes are out of warrantee to be fair, but still almost new in condition - apart from the problems mentioned above. One would expect a shoe this expensive would be top quality materials, but the quality is obviously very poor. I have shoes much older still in very good condition. I went to Cape Union Mart and showed them the shoes. They said they are unable to assist but will refer the matter to Salomon. So I sent them photos of the shoes. Salomon eventually rep**** via Cape Union Mart that it is not a quality problem, but fear wear and tear due to use. The poor attitude of Salomon is matched by the poor quality of their shoes. I must say I am also disappointed that a large distributor like Cape Union Mart is not more demanding on their suppliers. I will certainly not recommend this product. It is pathetic.
