Extremely expensive yet poor quality shoes

I bought salomon wings sky trail running shoes in August. Within 1.5 months of use (~220km of running) there was a massive tear on the side directly along the seam line and the same tear was forming on the opposite side. When I sent photos to Salomon I was told that this was a manufacturing fault of the shoe and I would be refunded. After sending the shoes into Salomon, they retracted this statement and said this was routine wear and tear and therefore the shoes were not covered under their warranty policy. The shoes retailed for 2900ZAR and if their excuse is that this is normal wear and tear, this leads me to conclude that these shoes are of extremely poor quality. I would definitely not recommend getting them considering a normal trail shoe should be able to be worn for 800Km before needing replacement. The customer service received by salomon was inconsistent and of insufficient quality.
