Refused Membership

Being an active sailor and being resident within the municipal area of the SBYC I was refused the right to renew my membership. The stupid reason given being that I'm a risk due to my payment record. I might add that at no time ever has the SBYC had to chase me for out standing monies. I was an Expat for 14 years. As I was hardly in the country I allowed my membership to lapse. I have always believed I had good standing at the SBYC as when I was a member I was active and participated in literally all events organized. I went on to become a committee member. At no time have I had either verbal or physical disagreements with any other members. In fact I believe I was more appreciated than disliked by members. Other than allowing my membership to lapse I have committed no wrong doing of any kind. Yet the SBYC committee saw it fit to deny an active sailor, living in the area membership renewal. This sucks and goes against the principles and charter of the club. Appears that the club has been taken over by a clique, with selfish interests, that has absolutely nothing to do with promoting the sport of sailing.
