From November 2019, I have been battling to settle the account as a trainee with SAIPA. I was charged incorrect fees and contested the matter. On the 6th of January 2020, I requested for a revised statement in order to settle the account as I wanted to resign and no longer be affiliated with the organization. The account was settled to my knowledge as per the statement given on 6th January. After payment was made to settle the outstanding amount, I had then requested for a new statement at the end of January to confirm a zero balance on my account before resignation. However, I was told by their debtors department that there are technical issues on the system and I need to wait. I had constantly followed up from the end of January to June with the debtors and trainee department but received no positive feedback. Finally, at the beginning of July 2020, I was given a revised statement. Upon investigation, it was discovered that SAIPA has charged me additional annual ATC fees for 2020. The invoice for these additional fees was dated 03 January 2020. The statement received on 6th January never reflected the invoice dated 03 January. I received multiple statements with different amounts since the ongoing dispute from July. Firstly, I am not an active member of the body. Secondly, I was told that should there be no activity on my trainee account, the trainee membership automatically cancels. The issue is that I must pay for additional fees for something I am not utilizing and is off no benefit to me. I requested for the latest statement at the beginning of January, why was the invoice dated 3 January not on the 'latest' statement dated 6th January??!!!This dispute is still ongoing with SAIPA. I have sent multiple emails to different people within the organization but it's a losing battle. If anyone can assist on this matter, it will be highly appreciated.
