Stay Away from Sage and Smoke Restaurant in Magaliesburg.

This restaurant specialises in waffles, bobotie, and roosterkoek. Three of us went for lunch today, 3 October, 2025. Amongst other things, we all ordered bobotie. The bobotie was burnt, and the rice was bitter. Even when it arrives with the tops and sides charred, it looked unappetising. The taste was there, and it could have been good, but it was bitter from being burnt on the top and sides. We also all ordered dessert waffles. Two of the waffles had chocolate sauce on, and it tasted like worcestershire sauce mixed with something brown, with a terrible aftertaste. I can safely say I have never tasted such disgusting chocolate sauce. We asked the waiter to taste, and he pulled a face, but seemed at a loss to know what to do with any of our complaints. Two of the waffles were supposed to have chocolate chunks on top, and there were no chocolate chunks. No explanation was offered, and no discount offered on anything. Do not waste your money at this restaurant. I have no idea how the owner allows such food to leave her kitchen, nor why the chef has not been fired. I paid begrudgingly, but will not return.
