Sage Pastel Accounting does not support their own product

I've been using Pastel since I started my own small business about 10 years ago. Every year I upgraded my package. When my "box" arrived I had to pay for support as well to get it going again. After a few years I asked Pastel not to upgrade my package as I felt that paying for support as much as the program and only use it to get the program going every year was a waste of money. For all these years my program has been working without a hitch. End of last year I got a new computer and my Pastel was transferred to the new one. Everything works except that it does not print to PDF but to the Canon printer. As I'm BIG on saving paper, this is a no-no for me. NOW, Pastel does not want to help me if I don't pay for support!! I don't need support, their program needs support!! This looks like a money making ****. I don't even want to call them again as ***alo Comalo who assisted me was SO rude and even told me that I have to pay for support as well as a new program and then I will not be able to get the same program that I initially bought as it does not exist any more. I have my own business and I still take responsibility for products I sold 10 years ago. Why can Pastel just tell me that it is not their problem?

Good day Hazel,

Thank you for your comment - please send your information through to ***
The person that spoke to you is correct in saying that one needs to have a valid support licence in order to get support assistance. So of our older packages are no longer support by consultants (depending on the package) as some have reached end of life .  We do have Business Partners that do still support these types of packages , costs involved would need to be discussed with the relevant Business Partner

Kind regards

The Sage SA Team

I'm not going to pay for support as this is not my problem but the program's. I did register my package every year since I bought it and NEVER did anyone tell me that my program is not supported any more. So, my program is registered until October 2019 and I therefor expect Pastel to get their program going until then. I did get through to support yesterday and the woman told checked everything and told me its a problem with the program. She was still trying to solve it when we got cut off at 5. According to ***alo Comalo (today's call) the support was not logged. Once again not my problem - it is Pastel's fault. If you buy something you should get support and feedback for the program. Not solving accounting problems (if you have that you pay for Pastel support) - solving program problems. You paid for everything advertised. If the program does not work when it's loaded you should not have to pay for support to get it going. It's of no use if it is in it's box and not working. My program does not print to PDF. YES, it IS correct in my settings and in my default printer but even if I choose PDF manually it prints to my Canon printer. ALL my other programs prints perfectly!! I insist that if a Pastel program is sold and the customer is told that they will also have to pay for annual support, they will not buy the program. If they don't mention that when you buy, it is their responsibility to do it. I still have my original box and it does not say anything about paying for support.
