Devious Sales Tactics

Our business has been a customer of Sage's for decades. We have always paid annually. As we were exploring other software that suits our operation better, I phoned in to ask if I could be moved to a monthly subscription. The sales person very enthusiastically assisted and told me the payment would be slightly more as it is monthly, which was perfectly understandable.

What he however failed to mention to me, was that our company was on a very favorable package as we signed up such a long time ago. In the mean time they have changed their packages, but had to maintain the status quo for historic customers. This resulted in our company paying far less than new customers signing up.

We did our due diligence and decided to stay with Sage. When I requested to be changed back to our annual package, I was invoiced the monthly subscription x 12. When querying the huge difference between our previous annual invoice and this new invoice, there were a bunch of emails beating around the bush. On about the 7th reply this little bomb was finally dropped.

There are no repercussions for the devious sales person, except that his target was made and he earned his commission. In the mean time, my annual subscription has increased with approximately 66%, which is the payment our company receives for decades of loyalty to Sage.

There were references to "management" in the email correspondence. As a result I asked to speak to "management". I am yet to receive a call from them.
