Allocated invoices cleared due to Sage software fix

Previously allocated invoices have been removed from the company profile and although receipts have been generated and are visible, the invoices are now listed as overdue (ie the system says that previously paid invoices are now not paid). The statements we sent out for the preceding months do not reflect the clients actual accounts at the moment (according to the Sage system) with many now being in 60+ while actually being up to date.

After a long struggle to get hold of support (that is another issue as their support hours are limited and are not favourable to small business owners who usually only have time after work hours to process the accounting side of a business and also only having 24 hours to respond to a Sage email before they close the query), I was informed verbally and by email:

"It is acknowledged that the fix implemented by Sage last week has affected invoice allocations, and the issue cannot be automatically reversed. As a result, manual reallocation of client payments may be necessary."

The "may be necessary" part is Sage not stating directly that it is the business owner having to manually review all the payments over the last few months and reallocate the payments. This is of course at month end so it will be long and late hours ahead for me to reconcile all payments for the months (I still have to determine how many months back this issue has removed allocations but it looks like at least three) and to get statements out that correctly reflect clients' payments. Talk about power over mentality from a company that causes the problem and then expects you as the paying customer to sort it out.
