Misleading advertising

During our search for accommodation we came across this adverti*****t from Safarinow.com by Kay Cera Guest House in Dana Bay and I quote from the adverti*****t: “Options on self-catering flats is from 2 sleepers - 3 sleepers 4 sleepers 8 sleepers Dstv is included. All the flats have private entrances private braai facilities. Self-catering accommodation options are also available. Units contain fully equipped kitchens, en-suit bathrooms, each with private entrances, barbeque facilities and sea views”

Based on the adverti*****t we booked a unit (3 sleeper) for my wife and I, believing that it is a one bedroom flat … Only on Saturday we realized that it seems to be an open plan unit, with a separate bathroom. We would never pay R1500 per day for a self-catering bachelor’s unit, knowing that we have to spend 16 days in a bedroom with a kitchenette- in which we have to prepare a Christmas dinner, as well as entertain relatives and friends during the festive season. This is also why we have decided on Dana Bay, as we could be near relatives and friends nearby.

We have contacted Safarinow.com and the owner from Kay Cera about the misleading adverti*****t and their excuse is that the photos show what is on offer. I disagree because I booked according to their description of the “flat”…containing an en-suite bathroom and did not look closely at the pictures they include. The photos also don’t indicate which unit they represent.

No-where in the adverti*****t do they refer to it as being a “studio”-or”-bachelor’s” flat.

We are very unhappy about the situation. If we had known it to be a bachelor’s or studio flat we would never have booked it, as this is not how we prefer our holiday accommodation. We have to cancel our accommodation as we do not want to spend our annual holiday in a bedroom…no matter how luxurious it may be!

You can imagine how upset and disappointed we are, not to mention our relatives and friends …Can’t we, at least, be refunded? Our history with Safarinow.com proves that we are not difficult clients and that we always book, either guesthouses or self-catering flats (with separate bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms)

Could you please assist us in resolving this matter?
