Horrible service and blatant lies

I bought a firearm in September 2016 from them. At the time I thought that Safari & Outdoor has good service. In December 2016 I contacted the store and informed them that my licensce will be issued shortly and I will collect the firearm when I have my license.

In January 2017 I received my license and went to the store to collect my firearm. I was informed that apparently the stock that I had paid for was not with the gun and was returned to the supplier. Surely this should have been checked the day the gun came from their warehouse to the shop in December 2016, but not so. I went to the store to follow up a day or so later and they were “making plans” to get another stock.

Repeatedly I was told they will contact me, but I never was. It seemed that every time I left the store, nothing further happened. Eventually of Thursday, 5 Jan 2017, they told me that they managed to get another stock from their branch in Stellenbosch and it is being shipped to them as we speak. The store manager told me that the stock will arrive on Wednesday, 11 Jan 2017.

After hearing nothing from them up to 11 Jan, I decided to give them a call to hear if there is progress and if I will still be able to collect my firearm. I phoned 5-6 times before getting hold of another manager who got the correct person on line (the store manager I spoke with before). After no resolve and still n update, I phoned the Stellenbosch branch where the manager was very helpful. S helpful that he told me that the stock was shipped “overnight” and will only be there on Thursday 12 January 2017. Following our conversation, the store manager in the Pretoria branch phoned and said sorry, but the stock will arrive on Thursday.

Is this the type of blatant lies we should expect when dealing with a store that is supposed to be the best? Is this how a customer is supposed to be treated after spending thousands of Rands at their store? Why can’t they just have been honest, or maybe follow up and keep the customer informed when he leaves the store? Is it too much to ask that they check the stock that comes in? It is scary to think that this enterprise manages the sale of FIREARMS and their checks and balances are not in place.

I think that the group manager should have stepped in and helped to resolve the issue quicker.
