If you are expecting a professional, supportive, or academically consistent institution, look elsewhere. The environment at SAE Johannesburg feels disorganized, unstructured, and driven by subjective lecturer opinions rather than fair academic standards.

There is a serious lack of transparency and communication across the board. Assignments are routinely returned extremely late, making feedback pointless and often contradictory to what is actually taught in class.

The academic culture is also aggressively anti-AI in a way that feels outdated and paranoid. Students can be accused of “using AI” based purely on how neat or detailed their work looks — with no evidence, no tools, and no proper academic process behind these accusations.

Administrative support is slow, dismissive, and unhelpful. Concerns are brushed aside instead of being investigated, and students are left without guidance, structure, or accountability from the institution.

For the high fees students pay, the professionalism, academic integrity, and support systems are shockingly poor. SAE Johannesburg is not meeting the basic standards expected of a tertiary institution.
