'Minority groups in SA's Valuation industry should seriously reconsider'. This was the overarching sentiment conveyed by the council's Vice pres. at the 2019 work-school. Little did I realize how true this would turn out to be. I registered with SACPVP IN 2009 as a Candidate, but was unable to continue in the profession , because of a ******** record related to Cannabis political activism in 2013, which record was eventually expunged in 2019. Previously I was gainfully employed at Ingonyama trust and had stints with municipal mass appraisals as well as bank valuations with Roper Ass. in Durban. I learnt of the 2019 SACPVP annual workschool program which costed R 8085 for ordinary delegates (non- members), to attend the 5 day program, held in JHB.

After working as a delivery person for 6 years , So desperate was I to attend that, I borrowed money to pay, from a friend , and lived in his tiny JHB outbuilding ,for the duration of the program. I was gratefully ecstatic and sat in the front row while engaging with presenters on salient matters. At the end of the 5 days, they SACPVP Council members took photographs with attendees and presented them with certificates. However when my turn came , I was requested to take my photograph, while holding another attendees certificate. At first they claimed they had forgotten to print it. However after vigorously protesting, the Registrar (Seota) suggested that I pay penalties for not registering with the council for the last 6 years, and only then would i get my attendance certificate (which i already paid for).

Essentially the registrar was forcing me to pay penalties for 6 years, when I never worked as valuer, but rather as a delivery guy. I feel like I've been thrice Victimized and am unable to earn a dignified living. Its been over 6 months since I paid my R 8085 and attended the program in 2019 Yet I still dont have the certificate. unfortunately access to justice is found wanting but i do intend seeking damages. Admin staff are similarly unhelpful and will readily snap, if anyone complains. I'm vegetarian and made a request for food during the program and was emabarassed by admin staff , in full view of attendees on the program's final day.

During the program attendees were transported in 2 merc vitos that had funeral signage. i later learned that SACPVP president cloete owned a funeral business. such was the extent of diservice and *******ion .
