⚠️ Consumer Warning – My Experience with Sable Energy (Pty) Ltd
I’m sharing my experience so that other consumers can make informed decisions before purchasing solar equipment or requesting service from Sable Energy (Pty) Ltd.
🧾 Purchase and Early Issues
18 February 2025 – Paid R38 950 for an inverter and battery with a quoted 7–10 working day delivery.
9 May 2025 – System delivered but not operational on arrival.
10 May 2025 – A technician attended and made the system functional.
⚡ Failure and Collection
24 September 2025 – System failed again. I reported the problem and supp**** video evidence showing the fault.
14 October 2025 – Unit collected by Sable Energy for warranty repair.
16 October 2025 – Delivered to their repair centre, starting the warranty-repair period.
🔍 Contradictory Diagnostics
Over the following weeks, I received three conflicting explanations for the same fault:
27 Oct 2025 – “BMS fault caused by power surge.”
31 Oct 2025 – “Battery in perfect condition; only fuses replaced.”
11 Nov 2025 – “Burnt BMS PC board identified.”
On 12 November 2025, the company confirmed that my diagnostic information had been mixed up with another customer’s, which caused the contradictory reports.
🕒 Delays and Unmet Promises
Despite that admission, I was informed that a replacement part still had to be ordered, adding another two-week delay. By then, more than four weeks had passed since collection and nearly two months since I first reported the fault.
I invoked my rights under Section 56(2)–(3) of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and requested a refund or replacement. To date, no refund or replacement has been provided.
📸 Use of Personal Photograph
During this period I discovered that a photo taken at my property, showing my father and our installation, was used on Sable Energy’s Facebook page for marketing purposes. When I requested that the image be removed, my comment was deleted, and my profile was blocked from viewing their page, while the photo remained visible. This use of personal imagery without permission is disappointing and inappropriate.
🧭 Current Status – 21 November 2025
Product still not repaired, replaced, or refunded.
Complaints lodged with CGSO and NCC remain under review.
The unauthorised photo remains online.
💬 Summary
My experience with Sable Energy has included repeated delays, conflicting information, and the use of a personal image without consent. I hope sharing these details helps other consumers make informed choices and encourages more transparent, reliable after-sales support in the solar industry.
