Terrible service

I am extremely disgruntled at the disgraceful service quality I was offered by Flysaa and their staff.

On Friday 23 June 2017, my flight SA377 was intended to depart at 20h45 from OR Tambo to Cape Town.

I got to the SAA check-in counters at 20h00 where there was a short queue and 2 check-in counter assistance available. After waiting 10 minutes, the SA ground staff screamed across the floor for us to come to the counters on the other side. Once I had reached the counter assistant at 20h20, she bluntly conveyed that the check-in had closed and that there was nothing she could do. She shrugged it off and laughed when I told her that its 25min before the flight departs and that they had made me wait 20h00.

I had to look for assistance. When I eventually found an SAA counter, they sent me from one ticket sales to the next. This was upsetting and I realised I had to take matters into my own hands. I checked on-line from my phone to see whether there was another flight available. There was one.

I went back to the ticket sales and the lady there was unhelpful, had no urgency and lacked "star service" that's promised. The queue behind me where appalled at the lack of assistance and general service.

Despite my desperation and attempts to be nice, the ticket sales assistant was very rude and abrupt.

When checking in to this new flight which I had to pay for, even though I missed my flight due to the ill service of SAA staff, the lady there was so rude to the woman before me (who was suffering with the same problem as me).

The lady before me was being handles with such lack of customer service, It was a horrible site to witness.

The SAA check-in assistant went on to address me as "you people" with a disgusting attitude as she assumed I am "white". She refused to assist me and walked off while I was standing there. I felt that she was rude and ******. I waited for another check-in lady to help while I panicked that I was going to suffer the same fate as my flight before.

I eventually got onto flight SA375 due to depart OR Tambo at 21:25 and couldn't wait to leave. Due to the last minute flight purchase I was unable to pre-request a halaal menu and ended up only having salad and water. The flight itself was terrible. I'm still suffering of blocked ears as the cabin pressure was insane. The landing was so intense the jerk of the landing made my already tensed neck feel even more tensed this morning. I have to commend the flight attendant for offering her apologies as she 'could tell that I looked sad'.

Monday is Eid and because of the atrocious service I received from SAA, I nearly missed a momentous occasion with my family.

It was a complete disaster and an over-all horrible experience which I did not expect AT ALL. This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience with SAA.

I travel often. Last week Monday I was booked with Safair, the quality of service was amazing. I was impressed with their service, level of customer care and friendly staff. SAA should learn from the smaller airlines.

The ONLY reason I booked with SAA was because of my loyalty to the brand. I had assumed I would arrive home feeling relaxed and refreshed. To my dismay it was the complete opposite. Your rude staff have indirectly ruined my 'family reunion'.

The worst is that I wasn't offered any assistance, any discount. Not even empathy nor apology.

I will never fly SAA and will convey my experience to my colleagues, friends and family.

I would like this matter to be addressed and escalated to the necessary departments so that it can be made aware of the horrible service for an assumed "award winning airlines".
