RE: URGENT - Spider Bite on SAA FLIGHT
On 9 November 2017, I was on the flight SA313 from Johannesburg to Cape Town, departure time 8h25, arrival time 10h30 - Booking Reference number LZ2Y4H
During the flight, I felt a sharp and painful bite on my left ankle. As I could not see anything in the cramped space at my feet and because the meal trays were not taken away directly after we had eaten, I was unable to see in order to ascertain exactly what caused the sharp pain. The afflicted area became irritated and itchy. Upon arriving at my destination, the area on my ankle was inflamed and swelling rather rapidly. I was forced to go to a chemist to get antihistamines and a special plaster designed for insect bites. The following day, the ankle was so swollen and painful, I was forced to go and see a doctor. The doctor diagnosed it as a spider bite and prescribed an antibiotic with a penicillin base, as well as resting with my foot up. Please see attached photos of my ankle.
As a result, I spent what was to be a lovely long weekend break, in pain and relatively immobile.
How are you, the airline going to compensate me for this. If there is no immediate response from you, I shall take it to Hello Peter as well as to my lawyer.
Yours sincerely ECH
