SAA Voyager reservation system very inefficient

SAA Voyager is a rewards system that is meant to keep you loyal to the SAA brand. So one opens a VOYAGER Credit Card with Nedbank and you spent in order to earn points. Once you have earned sufficient points they send you a letter stating that a companion can fly with you free of charge (not really you still have to pay CASH for the taxes).
Issue 1 - why can my points not cover my ticket, why do I have to buy a ticket (yet I will earn more points on that ticket)
Issue 2 - why can my point not pay for the taxes (so I use my Voyager card and earn more points)
Issue 3 - to do the reservation you have to phone Voyager *** to be told phone SAA *** (wonder why they cannot transfer one or do it all in one place) and book 2 tickets. You book but now you pay for only one, but you need to first phone Voyager, again, to see if there is a ticket. Then you have to phone Reservations again. When finished you phone Voyager again to get how much the taxes and and pay them.

This has taken 3 days and literally hours on the phone. It is so complex that it really is not worth it. I am looking for another card that will give me benefits and service. SAA losing money, I wonder why?
