SAA the broke joke

Against my better judgment I booked to fly to Mauritius with SAA in December 2018, returning on the 04/01/2019 flight 191 at 16:40.

Flying out we left on time, almost, however my daughter’s flight which was meant to leave before us left after our flight, which meant we had to wait with the shuttle at the airport until she arrived. I also ended not sitting with my family, the online check-in had my son and wife seated together and me in a seat on my own. Not an ideal way to start the holiday.

The return flight was where the fun began, departed 2 hours late, something about having to put new tyres on the plane. Manager you maintenance better perhaps, though I doubt SAA is capable of managing anything considering how they are loosing money. Wonder if aircraft maintenance is done as it should be and how safe your planes really are.

Then the inflight entertainment system was working in some seats and not in others, you guessed it I was in a seat where it wasn’t working. We were informed it was a software glitch and they needed to reboot the system. This they did 45 minutes into the flight, why it took so long to initiate the reboot is beyond me. Finally working , only to crash again. Needless to say I never got to see the end of the movie. My concern if something as simple as the inflight entertainment system cannot be maintained, what about the rest of the system that are more critical to flying the plane.

Also only had one white wine on board.

SAA rated the best airline in Africa, obviously only Zimbabwe Air and SAA were considered. What a joke, as with everything run by our government ,” eish sorry is broken”.

Interesting when we arrived at OR Tambo, every SAA flight was showing as delayed on the arrivals board, pretty pathetic I would say.

SAA the broke joke who pays its executives huge bonuses, how great it is to work for the government owned institutions in this banana republic.

Will I use SAA again, NO. Why ,because I doubt that the broke parastatal is maintaining its fleet as it should be and the planes are really safe to fly in. Simple as that.
