I heard that the flight from Maputo to Jhb was slightly delayed. Then after waiting at the airport for 6 hours we were told to board.
The seat I was assigned had exposed electrical wiring and looked like it was held together with tape.
Takeoff was delayed due to some object that had to be cleared of the runway.
The flight attendant assured me that it was their fault and that they world would do their best to make sure I was sorted out.
When we landed there was no bus to meet us and we waited, and waited in the runway. Finally when it was time to get off the flight attendant asked me to stand to the side while she spoke to a different traveler. Then when she was done she said I should speak to the ground staff who would be in the bus with us. When the doors closed I realised that there was nobody to assist as the uniformed woman was in front with the driver with a glass between us.
After immigration I went to the SAA counter and found it unmanned. I went around into the office and asked one of the many people during there to help and she said I needed to have spoken to the flight attendant on the plane. It was a parady of incompetence. SAA is in trouble. Its no wonder. I fly to Maputo once a month and have done this since 2002. At the cost of 6 to 8 thousand rands per flight one would think the treatment would have been better, and friendlier.
After spending the wait in the lounge and nursing a hectic headache I went to the gate only to find that the flight to Durban that they put me on, was, delayed. With the kind of day I am having, I am not at all surprised. There was nobody at the gate to tell me what time the boarding was moved to. So again I know the flight was delayed but have no idea what time I will be home. The avis chauffer that I had booked will not be in a good mood.
