SAA - living yp yo their poor reputation of lack of service delivery
I was on a SAA 223 flight from Sao Paulo to Johannesburg on the 13th November and we were delayed on the tarmac for 1 and a half hours with no explanation. I was then scheduled on an onward flight 221 from Johannesburg to Cape Town at 9h15. We were then told that there was an indefinite delay for this flight to Cape Town. There was no obligation offered. At 11h10 received an sms to say flight was still delayed and we would depart at 16h00. According to their policy and update would be given every "30 Minutes", did not happen. Eventually a supervisor arrived and said that they had made an arrangement to put some people on a 13h00 flight, this filled up quickly and I was then put on a 14h30 flight. Not once were we even offered a bottle of water to drink despite the policy on their website:
SAA FLIGHT DELAY SAA shall notify you every 30 minutes of the status and reason for the flight delay, if known. If your flight is delayed more than 2 hours (domestic flight) beyond its scheduled time of departure, SAA will provide you with refreshments, meals and accommodation, where applicable.
Shocking, and then they wonder why they do not get support from travellers. I will NEVER again fly SAA.
