We booked a flight through SAA from East London to Jhb to London for Monday 19th January for my son Nathan. He booked his luggage through to London & also got his boarding pass for the London flight in East London. The flight from East London was delayed by 2 hours. He arrived on time at the Boarding Gate to board the flight to London. He was told that he could not board as his bag had not been booked onto the plane as they thought he wouldn't make the flight, after him rushing to get there. Big deal they booked him into the hotel & booked him onto the flight the next night. He wrote an email to them explaining the situation & his disgust. He went back to the airport the next morning to get his bag to be told his bag had been on the flight afterall & that it was in London....

Well that was enough... He wrote another email to them explaining & his disgust at the situation.

On arrival in London he went to collect his bag to be told they had given it to the courier company to deliver but obviously he had not arrived yet so they had no contact number or address..... They told him the courier company would deliver it that afternoon. It doesn't end there... The courier company delivered the bag to the next door neighbour which they found out afterwards. The neighbour in turn went out so he had to wait a couple of hours for the neighbour to return to get his bag....

He has now lost 2 days of his holiday, which is only 2 weeks, due to the incompetence of the people responsible.

Up until yesterday afternoon he had only had the automated reply to his email with a reference number but nothing concrete as to anything. I did contact our Travel Agent who booked the tickets & she did speak to someone in Johannesburg who was supposed to give us some feedback but up until now we have had nothing.

I am determined out of principal to take this matter further as they think by putting him up in a hotel for the night makes amends. He had to use his own money to go out & buy toiletries & clothing which he has to claim back from them which will take who knows how long & the fact that he has lost out on 2 days of his holiday.

Any help would be appreciated.
