SAA and client services there's a double standard!!
Departure date: 09/05/2018, SA 563 I was scheduled to fly from OR Tambo to King Shaka airport, I checked in @14h00 for a flight departing @15h30, I got to the boarder gates and there was a long queue and to my surprise OR Tambo is now a "SILENT AIRPORT" of which I'm finding difficult to understand what is the rationale behind this decision as the airport is a TRANSIT area full of activity and not a lounge for a meeting. So I had to run to catch my flight to be told that it's been closed @15h30, they close 15 minutes before the departure time I was told by the lady.
I found this to be very confusing cause we arrived @15h30 to board the flight but I decided to not cause a scene and oblige to what the lady was telling me to do so I had to go the sales office to change my ticket off which I was charged a " CHANGE AND NO SHOW FEE" how the airline found it fit to categorize my misfortune of a long queue at the "boarding gates and silent airport" beats me.
I am being charged R 773 for "CHANGE AND NO SHOW FEE".
Return 12/05/2018 SA 550 I check in @10h30 for a flight that is scheduled to depart @ 12h00 cause I don't want a repeat of "CHANGE AND NO SHOW FEE". The flight was delayed for an "HOUR" we boarded late and the air hostess announces that they had to collect a heart transplant for a patient that's why the flight is delayed. So I come to the conclusion that there's a "DOUBLE STANDARD" here if I the passenger were late I am expected to pay a "CHANGE AND NO SHOW FEE" while the airline simply apologies and you are supposed to take that cause they know for sure there's nothing you can do cause you've paid already.
I would like to request from the airline the same courtesy I gave to it when my flight was delayed for more than an hour, on arrival, landing and bag collection at the carousel. I don't think it is fair that I am expected to pay a fee when I was a minute late, but expected to accept an apology from the airline.
I look forward to hearing from you, SAA!!
