Replacement of damaged suitcase.
SAA damaged goods claim number: JCBSA23521 has reference.

While flying from Port Elizabeth to OR Tambo Johannesburg airports an extremely rugged suitcase used especially because of the fact that I am travelling frequently and also because of the uncontrolled theft situation at airports, was mishandled. The suitcase was cracked open from the one corner. Logging a claim with SAA's Lost Baggage I was first take to an on site retailer at OR Tambo airport accompanied by an employee. The case could not be replaced by the retailer for under R2900-00. I was then informed that the other option is for myself to purchase the said damaged case and claim the receipt from SAA.

I found a replacement case at a good price of R2000 but are only liable to a claim of R1500 from SAA. After enquiring about the difference the response was that \claims is not paid out in full because we do not cover for the full amount that the bag has been purchased for".

This is totally unacceptable. If there was no mishandling of the suitcase I would not have to lodge a claim and experience the inconvenience of going through this ordeal.

If this is the case SAA should buy a similar suitcase and hand it over to me."""
