No acceptible plan for photography equipment
On February 16 I raised a query with SAA regarding expensive photography equipment as hand luggage.
This is professional expensive equipment (bodies and lenses) more than 7kg (11KG)
I raised the query 5 weeks early from my travel plans due to a previous problem with SAA & camera equipment.

Due to the lack of response I booked on Comair who endorsed the equipment and I was able to take it as carry on without a problem.
I finally received a response from SAA on 30 march 3 days after I flew with Comair the opposition

The SAA response was as follows:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Please be advised that any items which exceeds 7kilograms cannot be accepted as a hand luggage. Camera equipments are checked in as fragile items and the SAA Airline is not liable for any costs should the equipments gets damaged whilst in our care.

Alternatively you can contact our cargo department on *** to inquire if they offer any special handling.
Thank you for writing to us.
With kind regards,

My recommendation to all photographers who fly with professional equipment. Don't bother with SAA, use any another carrier that knows how to deal with the issue.SAA have no clue.
