Just plain poor...

My wife and I recently booked flights to Mauritius with SAA - on the way there neither of our seats (as well as a few seats around ours' tv screens worked - after waiting 20+ mins for the reset it still didn't work and we were informed that there's nothing they could do about it (and that this apparentely doesn't happen often). On the way back we wanted to check in online but experienced problems with the SAA website. We then asked our Mauritius-based travel agent to please just check that the flight was still scheduled on time etc, after she was first informed that the flight was delayed, but then straight after that SAA said that the flight was still on time?! Upon arriving at the airport we were informed that the flight was indeed delayed - by 2 hours due to the aircraft's late departure from Joburg! I.e. they did in fact knew hours in advance of this delay but even after we did try to confirm this before leaving to the airport they denied it and failed to inform us or any of the other passengers! As the flight arrived relatively late on a Saturday evening in Joburg this of course meant that many people ended up missing connecting flights etc. To top our SAA experience off on the way back (in a different aircraft than the one on which we flew to Mauritius), we again experienced problems with the tv screens (1 worked, 1 didn't - even though this "doesn't happen often". So apart from the delay and lack of communication, maintenance also seems to be a major problem - which is a serious concern!
