Incorrect Personal Information Vouager

Today I attempted to update my contact details with the SAA Voyager online facilicity and was unable to do so. I contacted the SAA Voyager call centre and was told they had two accounts registered against my ID number. The one account was an old defunct account which I closed down before I moved to the US in the 1990s. I have not received a card or any statements and no activity has been recorded against this account for more than 15 years. Nonetheless in order to correct SAAs mistake of keeping this account alive, they want me to send in a copy of my ID, which I have refused to do since in accordance with the POPI Act I believe this is be an excessive request for personal information. What this means is that the SAA account that I have used for the last 15 years cannot be updated with my new contact information (phone number and email) which means I cannot use SAA Voyager and so will not be flying with SAA at all from now on. No matter how hard I tried today to speak with someone at the Voyager or Customer Services call centres (I spent well over 2.5 hours on the phone), I could not get anyone to listen to my case.
