Had to send my personal luggage to Uganda by cargo

On checking in for my SAA flight to EBB, Uganda - I was advised that one of my 2 bags (which contained in addition to personal items, a motorcycle tyre). had to be taken to SAA Cargo department (3km's away) The bag size was well within the measurements posted in the FLYSAA site. Plead as I did, I was shown a memo, that contradicts what is shown on the SAA website. It must be noted that the site clearly indicates car parts can not be transported as checked baggage. Motor cycle tyres are not listed as no travel items.<br> I checked on the BA, KLM and Brussels airlines sites and found no exclusion, whilst I oddly found on the Brussels site that they specifically detailed that motorcycle tyres may be carried as long as the measurements are within the agreed parameters of checked in luggage. <br> Whilst I managed to get the shipment done via SAA Cargo - I have had to do this at an additional R 1,276 fee. this before I cover costs to be incurred in Uganda when the bag arrives tomorrow. <br> Whilst I appreciate my concern may be extreme, SAA get your act in order.
