Damaged Luggage

Not only are the ticket prices expensive (R6800 for a 2 hour economy flight) but your baggage is flung around in a seemingly deliberate attempt to cause as much damage as possible. My husband's travel golf bag was on it's second trip and was good as new when we checked it in. Collecting it at our destination, one of the protective rubber pieces was hanging loose, held in place by a few remaining stitches. SAA do offer to fix damaged luggage but that does not help when we are living in Zambia and would rather not have to make unnecessary trips to the airport. Perhaps the airport company is the real issue here - I know many people who have had similar experiences. Treating people's luggage and personal belongings with such unwarranted roughness should not be the norm!
