Counter closed 1 hour & 15 min prior to flight.

Arriving at SAA in East London, waiting till one hour and 15 minutes prior to my flight and the counter is still not open. There was quiet a long queue. One of the ladies named Prudence came to the counter and helped a friend that wasn't in the queue. Then only after she had served him did she processed to help the actual customer queue.
