Abusive SAA Business Class Staff Members

Thank you for contacting SAA Customer Support. Your inquiry has now been assigned to Philile Gama.

Case Number: ********** 0
Subject: Abusive SAA Business Class Staff Members
Description: To Whom It May Concern

On 30 April 2017, I, Cartier Zagorski, was traveling with your airline :
flight SA075. The said flight departed from Lusaka, Zambia at 16:05hrs and
arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa at 18:05hrs.

As a point of departure, I'll have you know as management that in my time
of flying I have never experienced anything as uncouth as airline staff
members and the treatment I received on the above mentioned date and
flight.

An incident occurred when I went to the restroom during the flight. Please
bear in mind that I was sick and suffering from terrible cramps during the
duration of this flight. On my way to the bathroom I saw one of your SA
Aiways business class flight attendant namely, Boitumelo Ledwaba (this is
the name that she frantically wrote down for me) within the restroom
vicinity when she was preparing drinks on the side. She too, saw me as I
entered the restroom.

While busy in the restroom I heard two aggressive bangs on the door and
immediately after that someone tried to open the door. After the first bang
on the door I responded by telling the person that the restroom was
occupied. Shortly after that there was another bang on the door which I
ignored. When I left the restroom I
found one of the pilots, two of the business class

flight attendants and
one passenger waiting outside the bathroom talking to one another.

I asked who had been banging on the door and they all looked at one another
and began smirking in unison. Amongst the people smirking were the SAA
staff members and Ms Boitumelo Ledwaba ,who had been present outside the
restroom throughout the duration of my time in the bathroom up until I
left.

Eventually the passenger said it was him who was banging because "the
bathroom didn't say it was locked". I find this to be incredulous because
even when the passenger tried to open the door initially he could not due
to it being locked as well as me responding that I was inside. Irrespective
of this, your SA Airways staff took a passive stance and seemed to think
this was one big joke amongst the four of them.

I had asked both SAA business class staff members why they did not tell him
I was in the bathroom or tell him to stop banging on the door and Boitumelo
Ledwaba casually responded by saying "I did and he didn't stop so what must
I do mam?". She didn't even bother to apologize or at least act as if
something was wrong, she thought it was such a joke which I found be
incredibly condescending.

I asked both Boitumelo and her partner, whose name I requested but could
not get because he refused to provide it to me, for their names and told
them that I felt that their behavior was unacceptable and I would be
reporting them to SAA management. Again they did not even bother to furnish
an apology or even seem to care when I said I would be taking this further.

I asked to take a picture of her name tag, this is when the pilot decided
to respond and say I could not take a picture of staff and I responded and
said that I did not want a picture of their face but rather the name tag as
this should not be a problem.

After landing I waited for all the business class passengers to leave the
flight. I then went to Boitumelo and asked to take a picture of her name
tag which she covered up and said no she would write down, I find this
extremely odd as one could easily write down a false name hence I wanted a
picture of her name tag and not face. I want to make it clear that your
staff member refused to show me her name tag and made a point of covering
it up. She wrote down her initials on a piece of paper instead and when I
asked for her full name she sighed and scribbled something down. As for the male working with her, she blatantly refused to give his names and said she
would take responsibility. When I asked him for his name Boitumelo
responded rudely with "You can leave now, bye".

I tried to take a picture of her partners name tag and in doing so he
grabbed my phone out of my hand and told me he would take me to security as
I have no right to take pictures of him. Keep in mind this was of his name
tag which he insisted on covering with his hand. Thereafter , I had one of
your second pilots who was not even present during this incident , come out
and say that I am harassing his staff. Staff members who could not simply
provide me their names. A pilot who was not even present during any
interaction and insisted on being extremely rude himself by being unable to
provide his name. Absolutely shocking!

I found the SAA business class staff members to have been utterly disgraceful and their behavior to be uncouth. Therefore as an airline I wish to inform you that I am holding you vicariously liable for the actions of your staff. I would like an official apology and to be compensated
accordingly. The treatment I received from your members of staff constitutes as harassment to my persons.

I look forward to hearing from your airline management regarding this
matter that transpired.

Regards
Cartier Zagorski
