Unfair Overcharging by SA Solar Experts Retail: Lack of Accountability and Unfairly Treated
My experience with SA Solar Experts Retail has been extremely disappointing and unacceptable. I purchased a Solar PowerLux system that I later discovered normally costs approximately R15,900, yet SA Solar Experts charged me R23,000. SA Solar Experts issued the quotation, and the full payment was made directly into their bank account. When I questioned the significant price difference, the company attempted to shift responsibility to the installer, claiming that he had instructed them to charge me the higher amount. I find this explanation invalid and irresponsible. SA Solar Experts issued the quotation, received my payment, and therefore has a responsibility to explain and justify the amount charged. This experience has raised serious concerns for me about the company’s pricing practices, transparency and treatment of customers. I believe the matter should be investigated by the relevant South African consumer-protection authorities to determine whether other customers have experienced similar conduct. I am requesting a detailed breakdown of the R23,000 charge and reimbur*****t of any amount that cannot be properly justified. I am sharing my experience to warn other consumers not to do business with Solar Expert, since they are unable to verify prices, failed to provide an itemized quotation, and anyone to conduct thorough research before purchasing from any retailer. Furthermore, Solar Experts denied the return of goods within the 7 working days, which is a breach of the Consumer Commission Act. Clearly, this store needs to be investigated to enforce compliance and protect consumer rights. SA Solar Experts Must Account for Unjustified Price Charges.
