WHY MUST I PAY?

The Post Office is very quick to make sure that our yearly POST BOX RENTALS are in our boxes, I notice. Not to mention the cheek of saying that if they are not paid ON TIME, there is a penalty in the region of R50 extra!

I INSIST, on either paying my rental TWO MONTHS LATE (was that how long the postal strike lasted? Or was it longer?) - and I INSIST on no penalty for paying this account at the end of March instead of January.

Or else...I would like a pro rata CREDIT against 2 months out of 12, for the major disruption caused by the strike, countrywide.

It's really high time we all started voicing our grievances instead of always SHUTTING UP and PUTTING UP with all the shenanigans in this banana Republic.

I will be informing my local branch in Bloemfontein tomorrow, to expect my payment - NO PENALTY ADDED - at the end of March. AND DON'T DARE TO CHANGE MY LOCK!

If I am penalised, they can take it to court. That's if they can afford to sue me.

If you cannot keep up your end of the bargain, on service delivery, then please don't expect me to keep up my end. It is really not playing fair.

Hello Lynnieloo,

Thank you for your comment.

Please be informed that no applications for a refund of the post box rental fee due to the strike will be approved because the Executive Committee approved the proposal that all current renters that renew their post boxes on/ or before 31 January 2015 will pay the current rate i.e. the effected from 1 January 2014 as a loyalty gesture. This means that if the current renters renew their post boxes on/ or before 31 January 2015, then they pay R339. If they renew from 1 February, then they pay the new rates of R363 plus R20 once-off penalty for late payment; the post box units were available during the strike and renters will still receive their mail even if it is delayed because of the strike.Current renters were offere leniency of 1/ one month to renew their post box.

Thanks and regards,
