Where is my pension money?

In 1983 I joined the company at the Braamfontien workshops, after 2 years service I bought a house using my pension money for deposit, after selling my house a few years later the deposit disapeared, was ABSA bank responsible to pay the deposit back? How could all my pension money just disappear? Please help me to get the answers here
