Very late delivery and ridiculous costs?
I ordered 5 x Shirts, 1 x hoodie and pants from on-line shop and it go delivered to SA on the 15th April.<br> <br> After numerous phone calls and not getting through i managed to get a hold of someone at Customer Care. Only to be told it is still in transit and will be at my post office the next day (29 April). Next day (29 April) I go to post office (Northgate) and they don't know of my parcel and its not there?? <br> <br> Then on the 4th May i got to the post office again to try y luck and I ask to please look and see if it is there?<br> <br> 30 Minutes later my parcel is found?? <br> <br> Only to be told i have to pay R2701.80???<br> <br> The Total Value of my Shirts, Hoodie and Pants i ordered is R2500 (R3100 incl. Shipping)???<br> <br> How does that work??<br> <br> I have been trying for the past 2 day to phone International mail centre and spent almost R300 on the phone calls but not getting through to anyone!!! Custom charges are based on the declared amount of your package.
All goods that are imported into the country are subjected to either customs duties or VAT or even both. On top of that the Post Office charges a clearance fee of R35 on a large and R18 on a small parcel. The only goods that are exempted from such duties are unsolicited gifts of which the value do not exceed R 400. You are welcome to request your local branch to return the itm to customs so that they responsible officials may indicate if the calculation was done correctly.
Should you alos require more clarity regarding customs and exercise please visit : www.sars.gov.za , and all the information will be outlined under customs and excise.
