Stupidity

Sometime in 2015 some manager in SA Post Office took a decision to not pay the rent, electricity and water for the Post office premises in Bryanston. In October the Post Office personnel were locked out and all the mail, Post office records and equipment are still locked in the premises and will not be released until payment is made. The SA Post Office has spent a lot of money on building a new post office in Sloane Square but has so far only managed to provide temporary boxes for the ex Bryanston clients. Mail delivery now only takes place between 09.00 and 15.00 weekdays and only caters to some of the boxes. I have arranged for a temporary box in Rivonia so that I can access my mail at a time convenient to me and do not have to waste my time going to Sloane Square, however the service is still backlogged and sometimes does not happen until I complain. The result of a STUPID decision to save some money has cost the Post Office a lot of money and will lose them a lot of customers because this debacle has cost individuals and businesses a lot of money. To change postal address is a major issue due to the difficulties of notifying all the banks, SARS, Telkom etc.
